Up Chelsea FC! Up all Chelsea fans! It is time for us all Chelsea fans to arise and give our club the needed massive support that would ginger our players to win the 2009/2010 English premier league. You have always done your best to provide the encouragement and the support that have been the strong bone and booster which have propelled our great club to victory on various fronts.

You all know that we cannot make it if you do not lend your support, if you do not attend live matches to cheer our boys up and if you do not buy the souvenirs, jerseys, plaques, key holders, face caps, etc that would help generate income for our great club. Our alluta must be seen in all areas where the club needs our solidarity. Chelsea forever! That is by the way! Man. U and Arsenal FC are seriously in our pursuit in the league, with just few points separating us. That is where our duty comes in. We have to show how much we love ‘The Blues’ by being there when it matters most.

Our coach, Carlo Ancelotti has done remarkably well this time around – you have been seeing the results, haven’t you? Did you not see what they did to Sunderland at the weekend? Only Tottenham Hotspur has surpassed that goal margin this season. I was afraid when the African Nations’ Cup Championship was about to commence in Angola; I thought that with the likes of Didier Drogba, Michael Essien, John Obi Mikel and Salomon Kalou going for national assignment we would be in a serious trouble, even my friends here have been telling me that Chelsea would certainly fall. Today, however, the ball game is entirely different- we are waxing stronger even in the absence of these guys – thanks to Roman Abramovich, Carlo Ancelotti, the seriousness of our boys, our sponsor (Samsung), our kit providers (Adidas) and your unflinching support. We shall surely get there again this year by the special grace of God.

We have not been doing badly. You still remember our records – League titles in 1954-55, 2004-05 and 2005-06; FA Cup in 1970, 1997, 2000, 2007 and 2009; League Cup in 1965, 1998, 2005 and 2007; FA Charity/FA Community shield in 1955, 2000, 2005 and 2009; Full Member Cup in 1986 and 1990; UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup in 1971 and 1998 and UEFA Super Cup in 1998 – that is no mean achievement. We may not have gotten to where we are heading, I want to say we still have enough room to improve, and this year affords us yet another opportunity to add another trophy to our coffer. Don’t relent: We need more of your support this time.

Our man of the year 2009, Frank Lampard scored twice in our last match. We want to enjoy more of his games and the games of our other regular players – John Terry, Peter Cech, Branislav Ivanovic, Ashley Cole, Michael Essien, Ricardo Carvalho, Joe Cole, Didier Drogba, John Obi Mikel, Michael Ballack, Florent Malouda, Jose Bosingwa, Paulo Ferreira, Deco, Salomon Kalou, Alex, Juliano Belletti and Nicolas Anelka. The case was clear and everyone was saying Bayer will go pass AC Milan after a 2 – 2 first leg draw at the San-Sirs stadium home of A C Milan . A C Milan also shocked many by turning the table to win away in Bayern home stadium with goals coming from Clarence Seedorf and Fillippoinzaghi. The won 2 – 4 on aggregate. They met another strong side with that greatest defeat margin in the 2006 – 2007 champions leagues Manchester United in a highly explosive semifinal. The first leg ended 3 – 2 with goals from Kaka for A C Milan, united did well by coming back from one goal down to end the march with a win, with goals coming from Cristiano Ronald and Wayne Rooney’s brace. The second leg was great for AC allowing united no space and ensuring they did not concede goal. Liverpool in their side tops their group convincingly with 13 points from 6 matches alongside PS V ahead of Bordeaux and Galatasaray. Liverpool was drawn alongside Barcelona the defensive championship. Liverpool were spectacular with their away match by 2 – 1 with goals coming from Craig Bellamy and Jean Arne Riise. It was the turn of Chelsea, co English side to pack the load from the champion’s league when they met Liverpool. Chelsea wont he first leg to Anfield conceded a goal to make it 1 – 1 on aggregate. This lead to a penalty and Chelsea were on the packing side. It is A C Milan and Liverpool final.

All roads led to Athens the venue of the champion’s league 2006/2007 final on the 23rd of May 2007 where A C Millan will play Liverpool. Betting went on all round the world as people were betting that their preferable side will win. With the departure of Thierry Henry for Barcelona FC, most people would have written off Arsenal at the start of the season as a team in transition. However so far Arsenal has proven the detractors wrong by winning 3 games and drawing 1 game. Thus staying in the hunt for another league title.

The main reason behind this I believe is due to Arsene Wenger and the belief or confidence he has instilled into his young charges. For the last few seasons, it would seen that detractors always view Arsenal as being goners due to the fact that key players for the team keeping departing such as Patrick Vieria for Juventus and Henry to Barcelona. However looking carefully at the team Mr Wenger has assembled since he arrived in Arsenal, it is not hard to find a replacement ready to step up to plate.

In defence, with the additional of Sagna, it seen to make the defence more complete as compared to last season. The central pairing of Toure with Gallas or Senderos looking promising. As for wing back positions, Sagna provides competition to Diaby, Flamini, Eboue and Clichy. Only in goal, Jens Lehmann seen to be weak link, conceding two unnecessary goals so far. Thus with the additional of Polish Goalkeeper Fabianski, there is an option for Wenger to switch if necessary.

Next to the midfield. This is in my opinion the strongest element of Arsenal’s team. In centre of the park, there are Csec Fabregas and the veteran Gilberto. In the wings, there are Hleb, Rosicky and Walcott to choose from. The playmaker here is Fabregas who has risen to fill the gap left by Henry. Looking at it, it would be Fabregas to bring Arsenal forward in next few seasons especially with Wenger agreeing to a new three years deal. And with the addition of Diarra from Chelsea, it looks like a strong midfield for the Gunners.

Finally upfront. When Henry left for Barcelona, Mr Wenger did not purchase a big name to replace, but instead he opted for the Brazilian born Croatian Da Silva. It may be part of Wenger’s plan or gamble. However reviewing Wenger’s track record of developing superstar from normal player such as Henry or Nicholas Anelka, it would be hardly surprising. Furthermore, Van Persie back from injury joining Adebayor, Da Silva and Bendtner up front, Arsenal has a strong or equal strike force to the other Big Three Teams in the EPL.

So far, the performance of Arsenal is still a joy to watch as they dish out passing attacking football for all to see. Hence if Arsenal can maintain the form and avoid key injuries, then at end of may, they should be around the summit of the EPL.

What a future hold for the Gunners.
