  1. Some similarities with the MLS Cup:

NYCFC gets tied in the final minutes.

Penalties must decide the final outcome.

Johnson saves both second PK goals.

Alex Callens scores the final PK victory goals.

NYCFC wins as the away team.

  2. And NYC beat Boston to the punch for a major pro sports title.

Congrats NYCFC on winning your first ever MLS Cup title and the first top-tier major pro sports title for the New York City metro area since the New York Football Giants outlasting the New England Patriots in SB 46 back in 2011.

  3. It's unfair for The Revolution not to be a champion this season,I can't believe that the US is going to host the world cup in 2026 and they still treat soccer like that with wrong league schedule with this play off thing, how come a team that won most of the games knocked out in one game in the playoffs?? And I don't understand why they use football stadiums in some states for soccer games with artificial grass?? This is very wrong way to run the game system

  4. They had a very long layoff and I think that did it. The international break and the bye took them out of game shape. Still, a new regular season points record only a couple of years after being way down in the table has to be considered a great season.

  5. It's crazy to me that the entire season comes down to a one game elimination playoff series. The Revs were the best for the entire season and because they lost on penalties, their season is deemed a failure. So dumb.

  6. The game itself was great but… The way the MLS gives out championship trophies is a total joke. The Revs absolutely destroyed the league this season and they're out in 1 game on PKs. Mickey mouse clownshow.

The Supporters Shield is the true measure of the best team.
